Applied Research and Innovation Services

Enhancing the quality of life for older persons everywhere is what the Sheridan Elder Research Centre is all about. Our affiliated researchers and volunteers are dedicated to developing, testing and implementing innovative, realistic solutions that improve the day-to-day lives of older adults and their families.

Sheridan’s Screen Industries Research and Training Centre (SIRT) is located in the heart of Toronto's film and television studio district at Pinewood Toronto Studios, Canada’s largest complex of soundstages.  SIRT’s production studio and lab facility is an industry and academic “technology clubhouse” dedicated to exploring digital image capture and creation processes for film, television, gaming and other screen-based industries.

Using state of the art digital cinema cameras, stereoscopic camera rigs and post-production processes, as well as motion capture technologies, Centre researchers and staff work together with industry partners in a range of technology areas.  Tapeless workflow, the art and practice of stereoscopic production, previsualization and virtual moviemaking are some of the current topics.  Visit www.sirtcentre.com

Newcomer Integration

Sheridan’s services and programs for newcomers include a range of English language programs, from Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada, to Enhanced Language Training for internationally-trained, job-ready individuals.  We also offer a range of employment services specifically designed to assist newcomers in finding employment in their chosen field.
