Education should be flexible and accessible, so Seneca also employs various methods of teaching – from in-class lectures and online learning to co-op and field placements – in programs related to applied arts, business, financial services and technology.

Applied Research and Innovation Services

Seneca’s research activities focus on building institutional capacity for applied research, and integrating research into baccalaureate programs and centres of Excellence. The Office of Research and Innovation assists faculty and staff in developing research and grant proposals, integrating research into curricula, and conducting relevant applied research.

Seneca is also a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) eligible college and a National Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) of Canada-eligible college.

The College has committed considerable resources to enhancing its long-term research capacity. In 2007/2008, the estimated value of student and faculty participation in applied research was more than $8.5 million. Applied research activity has grown steadily since 1999. Newcomer Integration

More than half of the immigrants in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) have skilled work experience and/or a post-secondary education, yet they experience barriers to employment. Seneca is committed to meeting the needs of internationally-trained persons by providing education, training and support in order to create job-ready graduates who are prepared to make valuable contributions to Canada’s workforce.

The services and resources the College offers for internationally-trained professionals include: re-employment services for Internationally trained professionals; job search understanding; strategies and training; job connect; internationally-trained immigrant advisement; English as a second language; the mentoring partnership; prior learning assessment; the English Language Institute; the Centre for Entrepreneurship; and workplace language training. International Activities and International Educational Partnerships

Seneca prepares students from 75 countries for success in the global economy, by offering excellence in education, by creating a dynamic, state-of-the-art learning and working environment, by building strong relationships with our learners, our partners, our communities, and by preparing today's learners for tomorrow's careers.

The College has more than 200 degree transfer pathways with 64 universities in Canada and throughout the world, including countries such as Australia, England, South Africa, and the U.S.A. These agreements allow our students to apply their college education to obtain credit towards a university degree.
