We are producing solution-focused, high-impact research that is improving local productivity, competitiveness and innovative capacity. Our applied research program also provides unique experiential learning opportunities for our students by engaging them on the frontline of industry innovation and helping industry clients solve problems. Our areas of expertise include: flight technology, digital media, built environments, and open source technology.

Applied Research and Innovation Services
Seneca’s research projects are relevant to industry and are enabled by expert faculty, high-performing students, as well as labs, facilities, and other infrastructure. They contribute solutions to real world challenges facing research client-partners. Seneca takes pride in executing applied research that allows client-partners to “get better at their business,” while also building internal expertise and capacity at the College to effectively serve a broader cross-section of client-partners.
Based on a collaborative model, Seneca works closely with client-partners to develop the right applied research projects for their needs, as well as help secure the needed funding and other resources to make those projects successful.

More than half of the immigrants in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) have skilled work experience and/or a post-secondary education, yet they experience barriers to employment. Seneca is committed to meeting the needs of internationally-trained persons by providing education, training and support in order to create job-ready graduates who are prepared to make valuable contributions to Canada’s workforce.
The services and resources the College offers for internationally-trained professionals include: academic bridging programs and re-employment services such as English as a second language; mentoring; prior learning assessments; and workplace language training.
