Fort McMurray, AB – March 6, 2017– Keyano College and the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) have joined forces to offer a free crash course in business skills for local entrepreneurs. This course is open to current students, high school seniors, alumni, and those interested in entrepreneurship.
Over the weekend of March 10 – 12, participants will gather at Keyano’s Clearwater Campus to learn about Lean Startup methodologies by validating their ideas, discovering who their customers are, and developing relevant solutions. This completely free course is offered thanks to a grant received from Alberta Innovates and is delivered in partnership between Keyano College, NAIT, Community Futures Wood Buffalo, and Wood Buffalo’s Department of Economic Development.
“We are very excited to be partnering with such great organizations to offer this course in Fort McMurray,” says Nermin Zukic, Chair of the Business department at Keyano College. “As a College, we want to support local entrepreneurs in their journey to success. Whether that is through one of our business programs or through a free skills workshop like Jumpstart, we want to help businesses in Fort McMurray.”
In addition to the Jumpstart course, Keyano will also be hosting an information session about the Bachelor of Business Administration degree program. This degree is delivered in collaboration with NAIT. Students who have completed a two year Business Administration Diploma are eligible to enter the degree program in Year 3. This information session is at noon on March 14, 2017 in the Doug Schmit Theatre.
